Honduran
Milk Snake Color Morph Guide
The purpose of this guide is to
provide a basic understanding of the different Honduran Milk Snake Color Morphs
in simple terms. Below you will find some commonly used terms with simple
definitions, along with a number of pairings with pictures to help illustrate
them. (Click on pictures to see a larger view)
Commonly Used
Terms
Normal
refers to the normal appearance in the wild and
Hondurans have a Tangerine
or a Tricolor
appearance in the wild.
Aberrant
refers to an unusual pattern.
(A
line bred trait)
Albino
and Amel or Amelanistic are often used synonymously
and they refer to lack of black pigment.

Anery
or Anerythristic refers to a lack of red pigment.

Bicolor refers usually to
Tangerine Albinos that have one or two shades of red or orange with bright white
bands
or it may refer to a Tricolor Albino that is red & yellow.
Buckskin refers to the uncommon
color in this picture.

Hypo or Hypomelanistic refers to
a reduction in black pigment.

Extreme Hypo refers to a Hypo
that has a great reduction in black pigment to the point that it appears to be
silver to gray with red eyes.

Paradox Honduran? This Anery is
showing the orange or normal colors, but this trait has not yet been proven to
be genetic.

Ghost refers to a combination of
the Anery and Hypo traits being visible at the same time.

Hybino refers to a
combination of the Albino and Hypo traits being visible at the same time.

Snow refers to a combination of
the Albino and Anery traits being visible at the same time.

Extreme Ghost refers to a
combination of the Extreme Hypo and Anery traits being visible at the same time.

Extreme Hybino refers to a
combination of the Extreme Hypo and Albino traits being visible at the same
time. (Unproven)
Pearl or Triple Homozygous
refers to a combination of the Albino, Anery and Hypo traits being visible at
the same time. (Unproven)
Pinner refers to bands that look
like they were drawn on.
Extreme Snow or Pearl refers to
a combination of the Albino, Anery and Extreme Hypo traits being visible at the
same time. (Unproven)
Double Het refers to a carrier
for two traits.

Triple Het
refers to a carrier for three traits.

Quad Het
or Extreme Triple Het refers to a carrier of Albino, Anery, Hypo and Extreme
Hypo.

Vanishing
Pattern refers to a reduction of or a lack of the outer bands .
Homozygous
refers to a trait being visible like an Albino.

Het
or Heterozygous refers to a wild or normal appearing type that carries a trait
or color.
